On Wednesday February 13th, we visited Ambroise in Enschede. Ambroise is a company that develops and produces assistive movement devices, like orthosis, for people that have movement disorders. Ambroise is one of the sponsors of our project and they have a lot of expertise in the field of orthotics. So it was about time for a visit.
We had an appointment with Nils van Leerdam, he told us about the founding of Ambroise, the products Ambroise makes and about orthotics in general. Next Nils showed us around in the company. It became clear that the orthoses Ambroise makes are adjusted for the individual patients and that this process takes many different production steps. After the tour we informed Nils about the progress of the A-Gear project and about some of the ideas we have. Nils gave us some very useful tips, the most important tips were: test an actual model, not only a digital model and keep it simple! We learned a lot from this meeting and hopefully we can continue to work with Ambroise in the future.
